Through years of network operations, GLSN has observed that members regularly face legal and procedural questions that do not always involve another GLSN member. These matters may include cargo release disputes, demurrage and detention issues, cargo damage or loss, Incoterms interpretation, or contractual disagreements with third parties.
To support members in these situations, GLSN facilitates an initial point of contact with qualified legal professionals experienced in maritime, transportation, and logistics law. This allows members to receive informed guidance before determining next steps.
Where a matter falls outside a specific area of expertise or requires local jurisdictional knowledge, members may be referred to appropriate legal professionals within their region.
GLSN recognizes that legal assistance can be costly and that some members may already have in-house counsel. For this reason, access to legal support is structured to remain optional and flexible.
Members may request an initial consultation to discuss their situation, understand potential options, and determine whether further legal action is required. Any continued engagement with legal professionals remains at the discretion of the member.
GLSN does not restrict members from seeking second opinions or engaging external legal counsel independently.
Members interested in accessing GLSN legal assistance can do so through the Members Area by submitting a request with basic information about the issue and preferred availability for discussion.
Further details regarding participation, availability, and applicable terms are provided directly to members within the secure members platform.
We look forward to supporting our members in navigating complex situations with confidence and professionalism.
